Birth. 2004. USA. Directed by Jonthan Glazer. Screenplay by Jean-Claude Carrière, Milo Addica, Jonathan Glazer. With Lauren Bacall, Nicole Kidman, Danny Huston. 35mm. 100 min.

At the exact moment Sean dies from a heart attack, a little boy is born. Ten years later, the boy slips into a fancy apartment during a party and tells Sean’s widow, Anna, that he is Sean. This happens just as Anna and her fiancé Joseph are about to be toasted by their friends. At first Anna dismisses the boy and attempts to embrace her new life, but her skepticism is soon followed by harrowing belief. Glazer’s dark, somber atmosphere is heightened by the minimalist cinematography of Harris Savides and Alexandre Desplat’s evocative score.
