The Royal Cinematheque of Belgium continues its effort to restore all of Chantal Akerman’s films with Histoires d’Amérique: Food, Family and Philosophy (1989), a vibrant account of immigrant Jewish life (and loss) as told by denizens of Manhattan’s Lower East Side (including The Living Theatre cofounder Judith Malina).
