Little Caesar. 1931. USA. Directed by Mervyn LeRoy. Screenplay by Francis Faragoh. With Edward G. Robinson, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Glenda Farrell. 35mm. 78 min.
Rico and his buddy Joe skip out of their small town and head to the city. Joe wants to be a dancer, while Rico likes the attention he is getting as a local hood. When Joe gets a job at a club owned by Rico’s foe Arnie Lorch, Rico tries to entice Joe to be the inside man on a job that could bring down Arnie. Little Caesar was Edward G. Robinson’s breakout film, but it also left him typecast as a gangster for years to come.
