American Aristocracy. 1916. USA. Directed by Lloyd Ingraham. Screenplay and story by Anita Loos. With Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Jewel Carmen, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. 35mm. Silent with piano accompaniment. 52 min.

Seven-year-old Fairbanks Jr. made his first screen appearance playing a newsboy in this sendup of Newport society, starring his father. Fairbanks Sr. crashes the quiet—and very snooty—confines of Narraport-by-the-Sea as Cassius Lee, a humble entomologist who’s got eyes for Geraldine Hicks, the daughter of an industrialist. A case of mistaken identity between Cassius and another of Geraldine’s suitors eventually elevates his place in the young woman’s heart.
