Scorsese’s frame can barely contain the hyperkinetic, magnetic Leonardo DiCaprio in this adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s book about his rise and fall as a stockbroker and would-be Wall Street titan. Scorsese takes Belfort’s only-in-New-York story (born in Queens, destined for the Gold Coast of Long Island) and combines it with DiCaprio’s combustible mixture of cockiness, bravado, and insecurity to produce an epic portrait of late-stage American capitalism.
