Frankenstein Created Woman. 1967. Great Britain. Directed by Terence Fisher. Screenplay by John Elder. With Peter Cushing, Susan Denberg, Thorley Walters. 35mm. 86 min.
A young boy witnesses his father’s beheading in a field by a monstrous guillotine. Years later, the boy, Hans, now a man, is wrongly accused of murder by a trio of upper-class bullies. Hans has been working for Baron Frankenstein and his associate Dr. Hertz for many years as a laboratory assistant. When Hans is sentenced to die for his supposed crimes, his girlfriend Christina commits suicide. The Baron, distraught with these losses, blames bourgeois society for these tragedies. In order to bring back both Hans and Christina, the Baron implants Hans’s brain in Christina’s body. But when Hans’s thirst for justice floats to the surface, “Christina” becomes a killing machine.
