The evil prince Prospero does nothing to help the poverty-stricken peasants of his small village as they fall in the streets, succumbing to the plague. Prospero desires the beautiful Francesca but must also take her husband and her father along to the castle if he is to seduce her. At the castle, Prospero tries to make Francesca a bride of Satan at a masked ball. When a stranger in a hooded cape arrives, Prospero is perplexed by the unexpected visitor.
