Paterno. 2018. USA. Directed by Barry Levinson. Screenplay by Debora Cahn, John C. Richards. With Al Pacino, Riley Keough, Kathy Baker. DCP. 105 min.
Born in Brooklyn in 1926, Joe Paterno was head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions from 1966 to 2011. Though he was the most successful college football coach in history, his legacy was tarnished—and ultimately destroyed—by his embroilment in the sex abuse scandal surrounding assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. With questions arising from all quarters about his failure to protect the victims, Paterno was dismissed in November 2011. He died shortly after his departure from Penn State.
