New York financier Bernie Madoff stole $65 million dollars from his unsuspicious investors via an elaborate Ponzi scheme. Considered the largest financial fraud in United States history, the scheme victimized individuals and charitable organizations alike. Told in flashbacks, The Wizard of Lies digs into the Madoff family’s past and yields telling clues about what may have been happening while many looked the other way. In 2009, Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison.
