From its early days, photography has been deeply engaged with notions of identity, from itinerant portraiture to documenting the faces and bodies of “the other” in 19th-century colonial and medical photography, for example. Find out more about the ways contemporary artists are tapping into, expanding upon, and challenging these images of the self in Being: New Photography 2018. Meet at the entrance to Being: New Photography 2018, Floor 3.
