Saboteur. 1942. USA. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Screenplay by Peter Viertel, Joan Harrison, Dorothy Parker. With Robert Cummings, Priscilla Lane, Otto Kruger. 35mm. 109 min.
François Truffaut notes, “Since Saboteur is often confused with Sabotage, which was made in Britain six years earlier, let’s point out that Saboteur was filmed in Hollywood and New York in 1942. A young worker in a munitions factory is wrongly accused of sabotage. The story, on the whole, is not too different from most of your manhunt yarns, so the best way to recall this one is to mention the finale on top of the Statue of Liberty.”
