The final film of Naderi’s New York period is a rigorous, punishing, and emotionally devastating story of a deaf-mute boy searching a storage locker for a precious tape of his mother’s voice. “Amir Naderi’s latest black-and-white excursion into obsession may be the most extended mise en scene [sic] of pure frustration in cinema history” (Ronnie Scheib, Variety).
