Art and Practice is a series of discussion-based seminars that bring together emerging and experienced artists to explore the challenges and possibilities of sustaining a creative life.
Carolee Schneemann will focus this group session on the terms Love/Hate/Influence. Participants will discuss how their own creative processes relate to these framing words in order to consider aesthetic experience and personal ideas. Schneemann will initiate a fluid and open-ended discussion. Following the session, refreshments will be served from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Carolee Schneemann is a multidisciplinary artist. One of the most influential artists of the second part of the 20th century, her pioneering investigations into subjectivity, the social construction of the female body, and the cultural biases of art history have had a significant influence on subsequent generations of artists. She was awarded the Golden Lion Award For Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2017, and is currently being celebrated with a retrospective at MoMA PS1.
