Mary and Zach are hiding secrets from the world—and each other. She’s on leave from a six-year prison term for an accidental manslaughter conviction. He’s been granted a holiday leave from the military hospital, where he has been getting treatment for PTSD. The warmth and good cheer of the Christmas season draws these two flawed individuals together in spite of the looming return to their personal confinements.
