Rakish Uncle Charlie assuredly smokes a cigarette in his apartment while two lawmen wait to question him in the deaths of wealthy widows. Hightailing it out of town, he heads to California, where he drops in on his family and his adoring niece, Young Charlie. Joseph, Young Charlie’s father, and Herb, the next-door neighbor, are amateur crime buffs and excitedly discuss topics like murder, chokeholds, and guns over after dinner drinks. Though all of this crime talk makes Uncle Charlie uncomfortable, he never loses his cool.
