Creepy and confounding, Donnie Darko flopped at the box office, having had the misfortune of being released shortly after 9/11, but with time’s passage (and a rabid fan base) it has become an enduring classic of male teenage psychosis. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as the titular teen who is possessed by the feverish dreams and doomsday predictions of a rarebit fiend: a dark, menacing figure in a hideous rabbit costume.
