In this session we will discuss contemporary artists’ strategies for dealing with “the truth”—a topic that has recently garnered a good deal of attention in all areas of society. We’ll consider how contemporary artists visually and conceptually address this complex issue, and how the structures and institutions of the art world further complicate our expectations, interpretations, and understanding. Particular attention will be paid to works by Anna Boghiguian, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Erik van Lieshout, and Cameron Roland.
This session is led by Jane Royal.
