During the postwar heyday of Abstract Expressionism, only a handful of women artists received art-world attention. This gallery session will explore the relationship between "making your mark" and mark making. Does a gestural paint stroke always express an emotion? We’ll look at the variety of painterly techniques used by Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, and Joan Mitchell and consider their artistic legacies.
This session is led by Kerry Downey.
