Finding Dory. 2016. USA. Directed by Andrew Stanton. 97 min.
Thirteen years after his masterpiece Finding Nemo, Andrew Stanton returns to the familiar environment of the Pacific Ocean with Finding Dory. This time it is the forgetful blue tang Dory who gets separated from her new family (clownfish Nemo and his dad, Marlin) while searching for her biological mother and father. Familiar plot points follow, but the film is elevated by excellent voice work from the entire cast (and Ellen DeGeneres in particular), and the technical mastery of Pixar’s animation team. Stanton weaves in keen emotional threads that will no doubt affect adults in the audience while providing showstopping sequences that will wow everyone.
