One of Khutsiev’s supreme achievements, Infinitas rivals the films of Andrei Tarkovsky and Aleksandr Sokurov in its epic historical sweep and quasi-autobiographical mysticism. Fifty-year-old Vladimir Ivanovich, relieved of his worldly possessions, takes a journey back in time. Accompanied by a traveling companion barely half his age, he revisits the people and places of his youth and witnesses the dark forces that shaped the 20th century. Combining stark realism with visionary intensity, Infinitas preserves a sense of humanity and hope in the face of untold suffering.
