Two of Conner’s best known compilations of American disasters play back to back: REPORT (1963–67), his record of the media’s shaping of the Kennedy assassination, and his most concise statement on television; and CROSSROADS (1976), his revision of military footage from the 1945 atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll, preceded by earlier films A MOVIE (1958) and COSMIC RAY (1961), and paired with Christopher MacLaine’s The End (1953).
