Steve Jarvis captains a merchant marine ship transporting much-needed fuel through U-boat-infested Atlantic waters. When the ship is sunk by the Germans, all hands must cling to bits and pieces of their tanker as they float in the cold ocean. Warner Bros. cranked up the pro-American propaganda machine with this drama, whose script received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Story.
