The Roaring Twenties. 1939. USA. Directed by Raoul Walsh. Screenplay by Jerry Wald, Robert Macaulay, Robert Rossen, based on a story by Mark Hellinger. With James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Priscilla Lane, Gladys George. 107 min.
When three WWI buddies return home they encounter a very different America than the one they left. Prohibition is in effect, making alcohol harder to attain—and more desired than ever. Of the three friends, two (including Bogart) are drawn into a criminal life, while the third becomes a lawyer and helps his pals out of their legal entanglements.
