Hugh Martin, a bad man and nasty criminal who still loves his momma, returns to his New York City neighborhood, teeming with crumbling tenements and poverty. The Dead End Kids appear in the film, and their bizarre antics sometimes slow down a narrative focused on the nobility of poor people.
