In a set-up that strongly recalls The Wages of Fear, a group of tough-talking, hard-drinking Frenchmen pilot freight trucks across the dangerous landscape of North Africa, taking pride in their courage and integrity until one of their number absconds with a valuable cargo. Belmondo and Ventura are at their most charismatic in this super-production directed by New Wave bête noire Henri Verneuil.
