Pablo Picasso once said, “You have to picture, side by side, everything Matisse and I were doing. No one ever looked at Matisse’s paintings more carefully than I, and no one ever looked at mine more carefully than he.” The two artists were creative rivals for decades, challenging each other to push painting in new, unforeseen directions. Together, we will follow Picasso’s advice and explore the artistic dialogue between these indomitable masters.
