An idealistic high school teacher is devastated to discover that her young charges are already cynical and opportunistic. With the support of a sympathetic supervisor she tries some challenging new techniques, earning the resentment of her entrenched colleagues. The film was cut, overdubbed, and finally banned in 1966; this screening presents the director’s original cut.
