For his first fiction feature, the painter and documentarian Jürgen Böttcher worked with the cinematographer Roland Gräf to create a neo-realist look at everyday life in East Berlin. Böttcher’s protagonist is a newly married young man whose vague restlessness leads him away from the responsibilities of domestic life and back to the streets, where he rejoins his friends in a motorcycle club.

This film accompanies Germany 66.
