Based on the comic books by Hisaichi Ishii. The Yamada family lives in close quarters in urban Tokyo, dealing with traffic noise, crowding, family tiffs, and differing views among generations—but ultimately they are a cohesive, loving unit. Produced by Studio Ghibli, in their first fully digital work, the film captures the Yamadas’ daily life and their interactions with neighbors, classmates, and colleagues. Pay close attention to the watercolor style of the animation in the background and sets.
