Screenplay by Tashlin, Preston Sturges. With Jerry Lewis, Marilyn Maxwell, Reginald Gardiner. Although this was Lewis’s third film as a solo performer, it’s the first in which he and his favorite director, Frank Tashlin, seem able to craft a character for Jerry that doesn’t require a straight man for ballast. Nominally a remake of Preston Sturges’s Miracle of Morgan’s Creek, Tashlin’s version takes off in a completely different direction, with Lewis’s character volunteering to serve as a surrogate parent for a movie star’s fatherless triplets.

This film accompanies Happy Birthday, Mr. Lewis: The Kid Turns 90 .
