Screenplay by Norman Krasna. With Marilyn Monroe, Yves Montand, Tony Randall. The last of Cole’s six film collaborations with Marilyn Monroe was also his final movie credit. The notoriously troubled production features the brilliantly conceived but unevenly executed "My Heart Belongs to Daddy.” Another ambitious but broken number, “Specialization,” finds Cole exploring the high/low culture divide, mashing Elvis, Maria Callas, and Van Cliburn, but it remains fascinating for his use of high-contrast lighting and graphic elements—an anticipation of the music videos of the 1980s.
