Join us as MoMA curators discuss works in the exhibition Transmissions: Art in Eastern Europe and Latin America, 1960–1980. Changing definitions of art in the 1960s and 1970s in Latin America and Eastern Europe influenced art's relationship to specific political realities. Roxana Marcoci, Senior Curator in the Department of Photography at MoMA and curator of the exhibition, and Chrissie Iles, Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art, discuss selected works in the exhibition and how they relate to theoretical topics like painting as information, the active object, expanded cinema, performance as transmission, transitive networks, and collective forms of authorship.
Space is limited. Meet at the exhibition entrance on the sixth floor.
