With Miguel Chacour, Stasia Gelber, Viraj Amonsin, Blanche Zelinka. One of only three features directed by Goldman, the film offers a hauntingly silent portrait of New York City in the 1960s, before 42nd Street got Disney-fied. It recalls John Cassavetes’ Shadows, anticipates Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, and represents a kind of landmark in the “underground” film movement.
