Susan Howe and David Grubbs' most recent collaboration, WOODSLIPPERCOUNTERCLATTER (2013), originated from text collages and prose poems by Howe that reference Tom Tit Tot, Childe Roland, Paul Thek, W. B. Yeats, and others. In WOODSLIPPERCOUNTERCLATTER, these texts are blended with the resonant sounds of Grubbs’s composition for piano, and field recordings made in the near silence of Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum during off hours. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the artists and Stuart Comer, Chief Curator, Department of Media and Performance Art.
