A New York City native, Jane Aaron was an essential voice in its independent animation scene beginning in the 1970s. She employed a number of sophisticated rigs and stop-motion techniques throughout her career to innovate and celebrate intersections of movement, color, and play. Highlighting both her independent and commercial films, this program underscores Aaron’s legacy as an individual talent and steadfast collaborator, working alongside life partner and fellow filmmaker Skip Blumberg and composer Donald Fagen (Steely Dan). Blumberg donated her film and video work, as well as her production art, to the Museum of Modern Art in 2021.
