Club Kid. 2026. USA. Written and directed by Jordan Firstman. With Firstman, Reggie Absolom, Cara Delevingne. DCP courtesy A24. 122 min.
Peter (Jordan Firstman) is royalty in the queer nightlife scene in New York City; he runs a notorious club night and sometimes provides the drugs needed to enjoy it. He’s in his early 30s, and the last decade has been a blur—until something finally demands his full attention: a visit from a 10-year-old British kid who is revealed to be his son. Though at first he’s reluctant to take in Arlo (a brilliant Reggie Absolom), Peter soon sees a new dimension to his life as a parent, and Arlo feels right at home among his dad’s “unconventional” (according to social services) friends and life. An ode to chosen family—even when it’s biological—Club Kid is an extraordinary achievement for writer-director-star Firstman, and a visually sophisticated one, thanks to cinematographer Adam Newport-Berra.
