Le Corset (Iron Boy). 2026. France/Belgium. Directed by Louis Clichy. Screenplay by Clichy, Franck Salomé. DCP courtesy Sony Pictures Classics. In French; English subtitles. 90 min.
Louis Clichy, who worked as an animator on Pixar classics WALL-E (2008) and Up (2009), delivers a moving, gorgeously hand-painted coming-of-age story set in rural 1980s France, where a musically talented young boy with a physical imbalance struggles to find purpose and freedom among a struggling working-class family hit by personal trauma and struggling to save a dying small-town farm. Winner of the Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Iron Boy is a poignant testimony to spiritual grace and physical transcendence through the power of musical bliss, love, and creativity.
