No Data Plan. 2019. USA. Directed by Miko Revereza. DCP. 70 min.
Manila-born Miko Revereza was an undocumented immigrant in the US for more than 20 years, an experience that fuels his artistic and personal exploration of diaspora and identity in a precarious, anti-migrant political environment. In his debut feature, No Data Plan, Revereza boards a New York–bound Amtrak train in Los Angeles, blending footage from his coast-to-coast trip with memories of faraway places and conversations with his mother amid a flight from immigration officers. In Disintegration 93-96, Revereza uses home-video footage from his childhood to look back on his move from the Philippines to California, offering a critical montage of the American dream and its reflections on one’s identity.
