Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable’s last completed film (Monroe would die in 1962; Gable suffered a fatal heart attack two days after shooting ended), written by playwright—andMonroe’s soon-to-be ex-husband—Arthur Miller, is a poetic, prophetic tale of lost love that owes its brilliance to the aura, talent, and myth of an iconic cast who know that even the brightest stars are destined to fade. Starring alongside her acting hero, Gable, Monroe plays a newly divorced woman who befriends three mustang hunters in the scorching Nevada desert, sparking a tale of friendship, romance, and melancholy between people searching for a way back into the light and away from the darkness that follows them.
