Be part of In the Making, MoMA’s free summer program for teens! This hands-on studio art course is designed for New York City high school students ages 15–18. Throughout the program, you’ll have the opportunity to enhance your artistic skills, build your portfolio, and immerse yourself in the New York art world. Under the guidance of MoMA educators, you’ll explore different art-making techniques in one of four cohorts—Sculpture; Drawings and Prints; Photography and the Moving Image; and Architecture and Design—centered around the theme of Building Community and Belonging.
Participants will have access to new materials and MoMA’s extensive art collection; will get the chance to work on a collective art-making project with a contemporary artist, as well as an independent project based on your own interests; and will meet working artists and museum professionals through studio visits, artist talks, and gallery and museum visits.
The program will culminate in an exhibition in MoMA’s Cullman Education and Research Building, where you’ll showcase the work you’ve created during the program.
In the Making participants will meet at MoMA three times a week for six weeks, from July 8 to August 14, 2025. Attendance at every class is required. MoMA will provide all art materials, MetroCards for transportation to and from the Museum, snacks, and any other costs associated with participating.
To apply, you must complete an online application. Applications are due by Friday, May 30, at 11:59 p.m.
