What does it mean to hold and be held? In this drop-in art-making session with artist Zainab Aliyu, engage in a creative exploration of “holding” as a form of memory, care, and imagination.
Inspired by Norman Teague’s Jam Sessions exhibition at MoMA and Zainab Aliyu’s artwork From Red Dust to Black Clay, participants will imagine and design symbolic vessels. Drop in to reflect on personal and collective stories with guided prompts, explore the role of AI in artistic processes by prompting an AI engine, and record your ideas by assembling a zine.
Zainab Aliyu is an artist, designer, and cultural worker who crafts counternarratives through sculptures, videos, installations, virtual environments, publications, archives, and social practice.
Recommended for families with children ages seven and up. The program is free with advance registration and includes admission to the Museum.
