Defying gravity and conquering the difficulties in adapting a smash Broadway production for the big screen, director/wizard Jon M. Chu has created a cinematic wonder to behold. Anchored by an awe-inspiring performance by Cynthia Erivo, the film features pitch-perfect supporting work from Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Peter Dinklage, and an over-the-rainbow troupe of enthusiastic performers. More than just a prequel to the Technicolor 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, Wicked delivers the energy and emotion of the great movie musicals of old.
