The Cairnes Brothers have been stealthily making sophisticated, clever low-budget genre movies for years—Matt Zoller-Seitz described their 2013 feature 100 Acres as “the best low budget horror-comedy since Shaun of the Dead”—and Late Night with the Devil is surely their cleverest to date. The Exorcist meets The Tonight Show as 1970s variety-show host Jack Delory (a pitch-perfect David Dastmalchian), desperate to salvage his washed-up career, attempts to debunk paranormal psychology and occultism on live television, only to unleash demonic forces directly into the homes of his viewers.
