In this docu-fiction marking the 75th anniversary of the first national bank of Iran, Aslani traces the life of a retired bank employee of the same age. Through the retiree’s voiceover narration and stories of the bank’s founding in Tehran, Aslani charts the development of the nation’s modern economy. He also makes allusions to Ebrahim Golestan’s landmark 1965 film The Crown Jewels of Iran veiled critique of the Pahlavi regime—by considering the treasures and their symbolism some 60 years later.
