How well do you know your MoMA? Above are images of works from the MoMA collection that are currently on view throughout the Museum. If you think you can identify the artist, title, and location of each work, please submit your answers by leaving a comment on this post. We’ll provide the answers—along with some information about each work—next Friday, along with the next Do You Know Your MoMA? challenge.

#4 is Malevich – Suprematism!! And right next to it, in MOMA, is his Black Square and Red Square painting!

It’s about time that Florine Stettheimer finally made it back on the walls of MOMA. The FAMILY PORTRAIT was removed years ago when the museum underwent its enlargement (ruination in many people’s opinion). Somehow the FAMILY PORTRAIT was never heard of again when the museum reopened (the avalanche of negative reviews hurled upon MOMA at its reopening by critics often pointed yeout the lack of a Stettheimer on its new, enlarged walls). And what of Stettheimer’s other masterpiece: the portrait of her mother? MOMA has owned her mother’s portrait for decades and hasn’t shown it for decades. At least Forrest Bess won’t make it to one of your quizzes. MOMA has warehoused his tiny masterpiece for 3 decades and by its past history will likely never show it publicly again.
