The people you meet when you immerse yourself in design for kids—the practitioners who dedicate themselves to this uniquely challenging and generally unglamorous area—tend to be experts. Exuberant, experimental, extraordinary. Two of them are also Exleys.
Nora Schultz is a German artist working in Berlin whose work is currently included in the group exhibition Ecstatic Alphabets/Heaps of Language, on view until August 27, 2012.
Now that Photoshop has enabled complicated image manipulation with the click of a mouse, few of us still resort to using scissors, glue, and a stack of magazines to meet our collaging needs. Throughout the 20th century, however, the technique of collage was an essential strategy for successive generations of artists, from practitioners of Cubism and Dada to Pop art and beyond.
In 1972, while platform shoes, waistlines, and the first recorded Pong scores were high, a young boy in Norway was feeling, literally, pretty low.

This past January computer programmer, web designer, and sculptor Cory Arcangel participated in the exhibition “Thing/Thought: Fluxus Editions, 1962–78,” by creating his own arrangement of a Fluxkit, the signature compilation of objects created by many Fluxus artists held in a black suitcase.

At 8:30 a.m. on August 2, Stephen and Timothy Quay arrived at The Museum of Modern Art conservation lab to complete an installation titled Please Sniff, heralding the Museum’s current landmark retrospective of their work.

They don’t call it a “photo finish” for nothing! There is something energizing about the most tightly contested races, something captivating in the physical strength and strain of athletes competing at the limits of their ability. I’ll admit I’ve caught Olympics fever.
Imagine you have never been to a museum. Any museum. Now imagine that you are visiting your first museum, and it’s MoMA; it’s also your first visit to New York, to the United States, and—most importantly—you are visiting to see your own art work on display.
