Here’s what’s going on this week:

• Tonight join featured artists and curators for a discussion addressing the history and impact of MoMA’s New Photography series on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.

• To Save and Project, MoMA’s International Festival of Film Preservation, kicks off on Wednesday with the Weimar classic Varieté (1925) in a stunning new edition from the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Stiftung Foundation, and two recently rediscovered comedy shorts starring Stan Laurel (Monsieur Don’t Care, 1924) and Oliver Hardy (Maids and Muslin, 1920) before they became a team.

• Celebrating this year’s Film Benefit honoree, the screening program Cate Blanchett: A Tribute opens with the her first Oscar-award-winning performance (for Best Supporting Actress) in The Aviator.

• On Friday the Design Interactions Studio and Pioneer Works Center for Art and Innovation host a free social hour at 6:00 p.m. Join artist Juan Cortés and Pioneer Works director of education and tech integrator David Sheinkopf for a conversation about using Arduino technology as an artistic tool.

• Young visitors can participate in free gallery talks with art-making activities during Tours for Fours and A Closer Looks for Kids on Saturday and Sunday.

• On Saturday the latest in the New Photography series opens, New Photography: Ocean of Images, with 19 artists and artist collectives from 14 countries, and including works made specifically for this exhibition!

• During Sunday Sessions at MoMA PS1, artist and poet John Giorno will be joined by peers and contemporary poets to present It’s Not What Happens, It’s How You Handle It.
