These screenprints are from a portfolio that was produced in conjunction with a 1951 exhibition of Pollock’s paintings at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York. Each one is based on a painting in that exhibition, reproduced, with minor modifications, at about one-quarter size. The project was suggested by Pollock’s friend, sculptor Tony Smith, and was executed by the artist and his brother, Sanford McCoy, a professional screenprinter.
