Here the basis of the composition is a photograph of a painting Johns made the same year but which he altered substantially for the print. Taking advantage of printmaking's potential for variants, he made two versions.

In 2018–19, MoMA collaborated with Google Arts & Culture Lab on a project using machine learning to identify artworks in installation photos. That project has concluded, and works are now being identified by MoMA staff.
