This work is a portfolio of erotic and political typocollages. Rühm, a poet and composer, was one of the founders of the Wiener Gruppe (1954–60), an informal group of Vienna-based writers and artists who made montages of pictures and text, used language as optic and acoustic material, and also held literary cabarets. Given the radicalism of its members' writings and artworks, the group is considered to have formed the first avant-garde movement in Austria.
